Project

After many trials and errors I have final got a somewhat working main menu for my game it will still not let me add images but luckily from one of the asset packages I downloaded there was a sprite that had a menu title on it which will do for now until I figure out how to add images to my main menu I tried adding a cube and tried adding a image to that but that did not work either but I am happy with what I got so far even though it did take a while to figure everything out because it would not let me add my script to the buttons on my menu for no reason at all because I had no errors in my script but I will get it working eventually. Anyway I am happy that I finally got a somewhat working menu done.

  1. Hi Jennifer, I have read through your blog post and your previous posts in relation to your game and I must say that it seems to be going really well. I do think Unity is very difficult and i have made many errors with it, so it is okay that your finding a few things difficult because that is normal. You have made a lot of progress and from looking at your screenshots above you have done a lot of work for your game so fair play. Best of luck with your game!

  2. Hi Jennifer,

Sorry if this comments makes no sense, I'm just back from training and I'm wreck ! Anyway I really like your blog, it's very short but written well and easy on the eyes (Thank god !) . I really like your menu, it's doesn't look too bad, that asset pack was handy ! I might have to go look for it for my game !

I do have one question: Have you work on anything else with your game ? You don't state that you did so I'm guessing no and I can understand why, I don't want to think of Wednesday night trying to remake our animatic (oh god).

Also, I have one complaint, use damn commas ! I read it once and thought it was fine, then I try to read it again. It was so hard to read a second time, I had to stop because I didn't have a clue what you were on about.

Anyway I can't wait to read your blog you in the future !

  3. Hi Jennifer,

Great to see that you got a somewhat functioning main menu for your game! I know you've been struggling with it for a while so well done on making it despite the problems you've encountered. It looks the part and has the main components of a menu screen which will be great once they're functional.

Have you linked the menu to the main scene or tried to? A main menu isnt really functional as a main menu unless it brings you to the game when you press play. I followed a set of Jimmy Vegas tutorials to make mine which worked out for me since he provides the script and is easy to follow.

For your menu I would also suggest fixing some of the text since some of it doesnt look aligned and the text on the teal part of the menu looks very stretched out. Perhaps it's the look you're going for, but I think it could be improved a little bit to look more visually appealing.

    All the best,
    Kay

I am not too sure what career I want to do in the future but so far I do really like photography/Photoshop and I also feel like web development would be a good career to get into. Beta

Beta For my Beta of my game I added some dialogue and fixed up my terrain a little bit but for some reason when I play my game my cursor will not show up even though the dialogue is clickable which is strange but so far I think my game turned out well for a prototype I have struggled a little bit as I do not know much about games or c# script but I have a functional game so far in my game I have two characters, a pick up fruit object, main menu which needs a bit of fixing and dialogue and I have also put a lot of design into my game. I did not get everything I wanted in my game but I think my expectations were too high so I might have to change some things around for my game but overall I think everything worked out well other than some struggles with c# script. I am happy with how my prototype turned out and I now know what I can do to improve when I start my game. Main menu Main Menu clickable buttons. Terrain. Terrain. Terrain with character. Terrain...
